World Games 2003

« What's that Logo? » Contest

Bonjour,

As part as the 2003 World Games activities, the Games commitee organizes a contest where participants will have to use their skills of observatition and perspicacity.

Two winners will be determined in accordance with a rating grid, one winner from Québec and one international winner, as Québec residents will have a certain advantage. Only the athletes and other members of the delegations present at the World Games can participate in the contest.

Here are the details of the contest:

DESCRIPTION

Participants will have to identify as accurately as possible the various components of the 2003 World Games logo.

The logo is available on the official web site of the World Games (http://www.crossemontreal.com). It can also be sent by e-mail to participants who will ask for it.

The six (6) components to identify are:

Component #1: Large ORANGE arc, in the upper part of the logo;
Component #2: Large BLUE arc, in the upper part of the logo;
Component #3: Medium GREEN arc, in the upper part of the logo;
Component #4: World map;
Component #5: Sticks and ball;
Component #6: Small BLUE arcs, in the lower part of the logo;

POINTS ALLOCATION

Points will be allocated for each of the component, depending on their level of difficulty and the precision of the answer. Note that the color of the component could be considered in the evaluation of the answer.

For example, if we would allow 2 points for the identification of an hypothetical component representing a white monkey, a participant who would see it as a "white owl, the bird symbol of Québec" would get 0 point; another who would give as an answer "a monkey" would get 1 point, when a third participant for whom the component would be "a monkey which color represents the polar apes populating the forests of northern Québec" would be rewarded 2 points! (we mentionned that this is only an example, purely hypothetical, didn't we?)

PARTICIPATION LIMIT DATE

Before the start of the Games, that is AT LATEST August 10th, 2003.

Participants can send as many answer e-mails as they wish, but only the LAST e-mail received before the limit date will be considered as the official answer.

MEDIUM OF PARTICIPATION

As this is an Internet contest, only the answers received by e-mail will be compiled. In addition to their answer, participants must indicate their full name and country of residence.

Answers should be sent ONLY to the following address, otherwise they will not be compiled: concourslogojm2003(arobas)martincloutier.net

ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE WINNERS AND PRIZES

Winners will be announced during the closing ceremony of the World Games.

In the case where two or more participants would have the same score, a random draw would determine the ultimate winner in each

category (Québécois and international); the names of the finalists would then be mentionned during the ceremony.

In addition to a surprise prize, the winners will receive a certificate of honnor and their picture will be published on the official World Games web site and possibly some other inter-crosse sites. And most of all, they will go back home with the satisfaction and glory of the winner :)

Please write to concourslogojm2003(arobas)martincloutier.net for any question or further information about the contest.

Looking forward to see you participate in great numbers.

Good luck!

The organisation commitee of the 2003 World Games.
